ABOUT ME
My name is Alice Clare Dickinson (no "i" in Clare - my parent's thought that four i's would be too much effort when signing my name). I'm a Photography student and part-time shop assistant studying and living in Manchester, UK. I do portraits and headshots for most of my clients, and then photograph landscapes in my own time.
As well as taking pictures, I also enjoy listening to music, going to the cinema, shopping, dressing up, drinking tea, reading magazines, making very long to-do lists, and going on day-trips and holidays.
HISTORY WITH PHOTOGRAPHY
Photography was a bit of an accident. I started taking pictures when I was in Sixth Form (2006-2008) to assist my paintings - the thing is, people told me I was good at it. No one ever told me I was good at painting. So it was only a matter of time before I ditched the painting and just took the pictures.
When I left college in 2008, I decided to practice my skills by starting a 365 project. All I had at the time was a £50 compact camera so the colour reproduction was fairly terrible - to solve this problem, the entire 365 was done in black and white, which I decided to stick to even though I bought a Canon 450D sometime around forty days into it. I think my obsession with photography really kicked off later that year when I started my Art Foundation, where I spent a lot of time in the darkroom. I haven't put the camera down since.
